Sorry, I should've said -- it was in the Travel section of
Sunday's Raleigh News & Observer.

If you have WWW access you can learn more about the zoo at
http://www.nando.net/sproject/zoo/zoo1.html (nando is the News &
Obersvers' Internet arm) although this particular article doesn't
mention anything about the CPs. It does however say that the
alligators in the Cypress Swamp exhibit "...are nuisance animals
straight out of Eastern North Carolina that were captured by
state wildlife officers after turning up in populated areas or on
sun-warmed roads, where they are prone to stop traffic."
