Hi everyone,
Remember when I was telling you all about the "disgusting worm
things" in my terrarium? Well, I've pretty much gone on the assumption
that they are fungus gnat larvae, so I've put up some yellow sticky paper
and made a solution of liquid B.T. and water and watered the plants with
it, saturating the roots, so if the larva decides to nibble on the roots
of my plants, they'll be in trouble.
Anyway, when I first spotted one of these creatures, it was
around the roots of my tiny, young Cephalotus, so I lifted out the plant
and moved it. Since then, the traps look sickly. They were a beautiful
purple-red color, nice and healthy, and now they're losing their color,
turning lighter and lighter. They're still getting the same amount of
light and the leaves look great, but I'm worried. Do you think the larvae
has gotten to it, or do you think it's just stressed? The color of the
traps is not getting green either; it almost looks as if it's turning
from purple to pink to white. Opinions? Solutions? Any help would be
appreciated . . . Trish <tcoene@peak.org>
