The type specimen of which (no. 1121) was collected (in 1855 in New
Caledonia) by the French botanist VIEILLARD. It was thus named
_Nepenthes_vieillardii_ by J.D.HOOKER (in A.DECANDOLLE, PRODROMUS 17:104,
1873).
