As Barry said, Darlingtonia certainly aren't native to the central valley,
though some of the Sierra habitats are only a bit north of us. However in
my backyard bog I have been having good success with them this far into
the summer. The plants are in a 90% shady spot in a large clay pot
standing in water. The water is over 1 m deep in spots, so it stays
relatively cool during the summer. I have about 10 pitchers growing at
the moment, even though the air temperature has been up to 104 so far.
We shall see if they make it through the entire summer.

One concern, there are white dusty patches on some of the plants. My wife
suggests that it is a mildew, but i am not sure. It can be wiped off, but
not too easily. Any ideas?
