Don:

I'm pretty sure that 'Pachuca' is an area in Mexico. A quick inquiry at
a good atlas should tell you where in Mexico. Be liberal on spelling variants,
though.

I know you (Don) grow CP and a lot of orchids, as do possibly many people
on this list. I just got an inquiry about _Sarracenia_ culture. Once you
have put seeds through the cold wet stratification, do you think they could
grow in a "warm wet greenhouse" suitable for _Phalaenopsis_? I'm not much
for orchids unless they're boggy and can sit next to my CPs in water trays,
so I don't know about this genus.

True, these aren't quite the same. I think for this experiment I would
characterise the flower size by the diameter of the style-umbrella. The
rest of the flower's parts relevent for this experiment probably scale
well with that measurement.

Jan, I got flowers from _D.lanata_, _D.falconeri_, _D.petiolaris_, and
_D.petiolaris_ `Kununurra' and `mini-rosette' forms. Various selfings and
crosses yielded nothing.
OK, well actually when I was looking through the dead flowers I found something
in a _D.falconeri X lanata_ attempt that looked enough like seed that I planted
it, but it might have just been dead anthers or something.

I know what you mean. Here in the desert the water my plants sit in gets
downright chilly to the touch. *AND* you have to wear a light jacket!
Good beer drinking weather, though.
