I try to use it rather quickly so that it doesn't 'RIPEN'. As long as its
somewhat fresh, the odor isn't very noticable, especially after it dries.
If, however, you notice that it has a VERY dark colour, or is totally opaque,
DO NOT open the bottle, and throw it away very far from home. If you are
truly wicked, rancid skunk pee makes a fabulous raunch bomb.

The way that my mum uses the stuff is as follows: (She does it a little
differently than I do.)

She soaks a bunch of wooden dowels in the stuff for a day or two to get
really saturated in the stuff. Then she sticks them strategically around
the yard to mark her territory. This apparently is more effective than
my flower pot method because of wind exposure, but my way works fine for me.
(I worry about raccoons and rats, she worries about ferral cats and dogs,
coyotes, bob cats and the like.....)

Now for a bizarre twist to the initial posting to this thread, Robert, since
you mentioned trapping the offending critter, let me know what it is. If it
happens to be a young raccoon, let me know. I want to adopt one for a pet
since they tame fairly easily and since males are very territorial, I think
that perhaps a pet coon would possibly discourage visits from his brethern....

With regards,

Marvin
