Sarracenia pollination

I used to pollinate my flowers over a period of several days to ensure
fertilization - probably overkill, but it worked. Probably the easiest and
cheapest tool in the humble cotton bud - as long as you are watchful for
catching fibres on the styles. I guess that I used to use the pollen that
had dropped on the "umbrella" for fertilizing (it's been a few years...) and
you can stop pollinating when the receiving flower drops it petals (or you
run out of pollen, which can happen on some plants). The only other thing
to watch out for is the nectar which tends to form as a large drop on the
"umbrella" on enthusiastic flowers... This stuff is probably worse than
Drosera mucilage! (especially D. filiformis - one of the hazards in small
greenhouses...)
