Barry,
you are certainly right when you assume _Genlisea_ to be related with
_Utri- cularia_ closer than with _Pinguicula_ (which has true roots,
true leaves, and solitary flowers). But still, the "leaves" of
_Genlisea_ are not so de- differenciated bastards (sorry for that word,
but you introduced it first 8-) like the phylloid organs of
_Utricularia_. There is still a (not too complete, of course) agreement
between stems and leaves that stems give rise to leaves, and *not* vice
versa (which is so commonly the case in _Utricularia_). Of course,
there are exceptions to the rule (even _Pinguicula_ may produce new
plantlets on the surface of leaves). To make a long story short, I
think _Genlisea_ is somewhere between _Pinguicula_ and _Utricularia_,
and the organs of this genus are also somewhere between the clear order
of _P._ and the complete chaos of _U._. Kind regards Jan

PS:TNX for your official concession (at least "strongly fused bulbs")...
