Chris,
I don't think a Nepenthes will root if you simply place
the cutting in water, as other plants will. I find the sphagnum
method better. Take a cutting, and trim each leaf in half.
Place some rooting hormone on the cut end of the stem. Then,
tuck this in a tray of wet sphagnum, put the whole tray in a
translucent white plastic bag, and place in a sunny window. The
translucent white bag is better than a clear bag--the latter will
allow too much heat to build up inside. Roots should appear
after six weeks or so.
