Well, the succulent symposium at the Huntington was rather boring this
time, but I did take the opportunity to meet w/ Thomas Johnson while I
was in LA.

Tom has quite a few plants. He has numerous Nepenthes, Pinguicula,
(mostly tropical), and Heliamphora! (Ithink he has H. nutans, H.
heterodoxa, the hybrid between the two, and possibly others). Nepenthes
make up the bulk of his collection, but most are small and didn't
present a nice pitcher display

His collection is really thrown together in disorganized fashion. He
says he just moved down from Oregon, and I guess the plants moved too.
He is planning on putting up a greenhouse in his small backyard (the
house would have to be a sort of lean-to which would fill the yard).
Now he has plants ever ywhere indoors and out. Most of his nicer plants
are indoors under lights.

Tom says he got most of his plants through trading, and has a great interest
in trading with more people. Right now I doubt he has much to offer due to
the small size of his plants, but once he gets them going I'm sure he
will have some interesting material available (actually i think he got
many of his most unusual plants from CP shows in San Francisco, come to
think of it).

P.S. Barry, I got the Utric seed you wanted(Tom is now running the se
ed bank).
