If one is to register a plant as a cultivar, does that plant need to be
a "creation" or "discovery" of the registree? I can see someone registering
a hybrid they've produced, or a plant they've selected from a very large and
diverse seed lot. What about a plant that came direct from the wild (OK, I
know nobody should be doing that...). What about a plant that has been in
the commercial trade a while. It is different, you happen to get one, and
decide to register it. Won't the seller who you got the plant from be pissed
off?
