Perry, sorry I can't tackle the physics of your humidity question,
however, I do have some non-scientific observations on cp and humidity.
I'm in Arizona, and I've grown CP outdoors on the roof of a four story
building and indoors in an airconditioned and very dry greenhouse. It
was my servatio observation that nearly all CP which liked high light
intensity did well in the very low humidity. I think that enough
moisture evaporated from the soil surface and from the try of water in
which they sat. Some cp like Byblis liniflora obviously fried if I
moved them from a terrarium to the outdoors, but remarkably, some seeds
of B. liniflora came up as "weeds" in other pots of plants grown
outdoors. These liniflora received partial sun and were able to pull it
through the summer! Even Nepenthes could take low humidity, but they
usually stopped pitchering, so I kept these in a covered tank.
