I got mail from Bruce Lee Bednar, who lists all the Nepenthes hybrids
he and/or Orgel Clyde Bramblett made from 1982 to the present. He has sent
this list to Leo Song for publication in CPN but it hasn't been published
there yet.

female parent is listed first, pollinator second

*This should be spelled "Savannah", but Bruce uses "Savanah" throughout
list
**This might be truncata, but Bruce writes it "truncalata" - (hybrid
truncata x alata??)
I may have clarification from Bruce in a few weeks.

Also, these hybrid names are given:
N. x emmarene (Pratt) - Hybrid made by Pratt in 1981 (khasiana x ventricosa)
N. x 'Savanah Rose' - special cultivar of above cross
N. x tsangoya (Tsang) - Natural hybrid discovered by Tsang in 1983.
(alata x merrilliana x mirabilis)
N. x hyogo - Japanese hybrid (thorelii x Sohna)
N. x elaborative koto - Japanese hybrid (thorelii x dyeriana)
N. x whittaeyi (Dodd) - globamphora x ventricosa - made by Dodd in 1988

Also, Kosobe farms in Japan did remake N. x wrigleyana - this is the
wrigleyana look-alike, N. x kosobe. I've been calling it
N. x wrigleyana (Kosobe).

N. x balfouriana is extinct. Bruce calls it N. x dominii v. intermedia. This
is the same as N. x hookeriana (cultivated type) that most of us have. Bruce
claims this is a hybrid between rafflesiana and hirsuta.

The ampullaria form Bruce is looking for is 'Cantley's red' - not the
speckled red form. Whatever happened to Robert Cantley and his Nepenthes
mail order company in Brunei anyway?

Bruce has already sold out of N. maxima, N. reinwardtiana, N. merrilliana,
N. x (bicalcarata x hookeriana), N. x (petiolata x truncata), and
N. x (hirsuta x veitchii) for this year.

N. x trichocarpa - there's a mislabeled Japanese clone that should be
called N. distillatoria 'rubra'. This has a red stem, looks close to N.
gracilis, has "super-decurrent" leaves, hard to pitcher, has some purple
mottling inside pitcher, green or brown outside, easy to root. All true
N. x trichocarpa are squat and have some speckling on the outside of
pitcher. From benedym@rockvax.ROCKEFELLER.EDU Thu Mar 25 20:18:20 1993
