Don, I actually preferred Randy's article about travelling in S.America.
It is well written and includes an excellent set of photos on a plant I
have never seen documented before---_D.uniflora_. But if I were one of the
editors I would have taken an axe to a lot of what he had written. Extensive
narratives on unsuccessful trips for PC (como se dice CP en espan~ol) are
uninteresting.

I've recently subscribed the the Australian CP society and am pleased
with their quarterly. It is nice. I've heard the Ping Study group in
Europe is also a good rag.

Hah! My _U.inflata_ is producing a second inflorescence!

I have a question to those out there growing the _D.petiolaris_ plants...
According to letters from and articles by Allen Lowrie, this group of
plants grows actively during the wet months and go dormant during the
dry months. At Australia's top end the wet months correspond to the
cool months. But my _petiolaris_ plants (petiolaris, lanata, falconeri,
petiolaris `Kununurra', petiolaris `mini rosette, and a few hybrids)
all show a different cycle. That is, they grow during the summer (at
about 30--35C (86--95F) and go dormant during the winter when the T's
are lower by about 25C (45F). The water level is constant year round.
I've been growing some of these plants for about 3 years now, and one
batch of hybrids are seedlings produced by the devious machinations of
our ingenious Roberto Maharajh---so surely these plants are not all still
stuck on an Australian schedule. ?QUE PASA?

Also these plants are ending dormancy by producing inflorescences
(lanata,falconeri,petiolaris,falconeriXpetiolaris). Is this the normal
sequence? I know these plants are not completely happy in my care because
many of the flowers are not opening and those that do are distorted.
