I second (or third, I lost count) the use of sphagnum for growing Nepenthes;
it need not be live. And, at least in the USA, it is readily available and
inexpensive. I have tried using a peat/perlit mix also, but the results
weren't nearly as good as with sphagnum. If you use sphagnum moss, remember
not to pack it too tightly, or it will get water-logged, which your plants
won't appreciate.

Don, did the guy from glasshouse works say how large (or long) the unrooted
cuttings are? If they are only 2 or 3 nodes, then the price seems kind of
high. On the other hand, if they are a dozen nodes long, that's another
matter. If you get a list of all their Nepenthes holdings, please post it.

I got a copy of "Orgel's Orchids" price list last week. The number of Neps
available is down, but supposedly they are recovering from the hurricane, and
more species will be available later this year.

Does anyone know a source for N Ampullaria? I'll take seed, rooted or
unrooted cuttings, or a whole plant. I've been looking for one of these
for the past year without success.
