Winter seems to be winding down here finally. Only snowed once this
winter so far (if you don't have to shovel your car out of the driveway
after a 'snow' then it didn't snow IMO).

Looking at the plants overwintering outside under a mulch of dead leaves (a
foot thick), everything looks to be alive. Leaves on P. grandiflora don't
die back during the winter - my plant looks just the same as it did last
summer with all leaves intact and green.

D. falconeri are doing great. The roots were growing out of their
4-inch pots so I repotted them together into a 6-inch pot. a few
plantlets were found under the older leaves. Plants are under
flourescent lights and are completely red.

Here's a moderately interesting FTP site having articles for herbarium keepers:
FTP 128.103.108.123
directory pub/newsletters/flora.online
The file "020fie10.zip" has info on how to order photos of type specimens
from the Field Museum of Chicago (60,000 to choose from, but original photos
are very old - may only be B&W).

Glad to hear our D. coccicaulis is now D. natalensis. Would this be an
ACTUAL D. natalensis, or would it be D. natalensis 'coccicaulis', or maybe
D. natalensis (thick, semi-erect leaves), or what??
