Subject: charcoal

  Hi All,

Anyone want to entertain a discussion of the usefulness of charcoal in
Nepenthes mediums? I understand that the "sweetening" element is
short-termed and/or only is 10% efficient(both explanations have been given
to me). If it's being used for drainage, then there are cheaper alternatives,
aren't there?
I guess I want to know what the advantages are. Just thought I would end
the year with a good debate.
