Subject: Pitcher Parasite

Yesterday I removed some cuttings from a Nepenthes ampullaria. One of the
leaves on one of the cuttings had a small pitcher about 2 cm. I looked
inside the pitcher (as one is inclined to do). There was no fluid inside,
only black residue at the bottom. However, growing out of this residue is
a tiny plant. It looks like the alfalfa shoots you eat, except its only
about 2 cm tall and its other dimensions are tiny.

I can identify it as a dicotyledon, but no further. I've placed the
pitcher in a seed raising bed under a fluoro light and I have been misting
it, in the hope that the tiny plant will grow bigger. Maybe I should fill
the pitcher with seed raising mix or something.
