Subject: more birds and Guppy's

Hi again,
Had to look some thing up in Anne Arber's old book on Aquatic
plants and remembered that there is an entire chapter on dispersal
of aquatic plants. And Guppy did the salt water experiments on
many aquatic plant seeds back in 1893. Anyway Guppy also
bought 13 wild ducks from the London markets and found 828 seed
and fruits of aquatic plants on the outer body and stomach content.
He called them the "flying germinators". 60% of one species from
the gut germinated shortly after. And many other little stories.
Arber was definitely before her time.
Richard.
