Subject: Various questions on VFT and Sarrs

Hello All,

First, I would like to into myself. I started with CP
years ago while going through swamps and streams, Then
school got in the way of hanging with nature. About 2
years ago I got back into CP when I was given some
Puruple Pitchers and My sister-in-law then help when she
also wanted some plants. Now I have a good size
collection of Sarrs and VFTs in various planters and I
seem to have gotten some infestation (See #3 below)

1) I have a couple (3) of VFT in a 6". I had some kind of
clear worm infestation and was suggested to use orthanex.
I did that about 3 weeks ago.
Now it appears the traps are dying off. New leaves
with traps are now turning yellow/black before they can
even open. Did I posion the plants? should I flood the
pot with water to rinse the soil?

     2) I have a larger pot of VFT and some of the plants
appear to be turning yellow. I used a sand that the
salesperson said was silica, but reading the fine print
on the package after I planted it stated it was 95%
silica 5% other material. Should I use Miracid to try to
compensate for anything like limestone in the sand mix.

     3) Today I found that one of my new PP ssp Venosa
leaf was taken over by some sort of bug. It spun a web
over the opening and it has eaten some of the inside of
the leaf. I've been told that this most likly a exyra
moth. I did receive some Live moss from a vendor. After I
put some of the moss I did have little inchworm like
worms which I feed to the VFTs. One of these things did
eat through a VFT before getting squished by me.

Thanks
-Dave
